The government announced 30 hours free childcare a while back and they come into force in September 2017, so what do they mean for CoB users and parents?
Firstly, for most of our CoB clients it doesn’t have any effect, as it only applied to 3 – 4 year old; whilst we have a few schools and clubs that do offer nursery places, these are limited to a handful and we’ll provide further details for them over the summer months, before everyone gets back to school for the Autumn term. Nurseries, childminders and pre-schools are expected to provide the majority of the 30 hours free childcare, but after school clubs are eligible as long as they are registered on the Early Years Register.
The Out of School Alliance have published an excellent guide for after school clubs: 30 hours free childcare.
Parents can find out if they are eligible for 30 hours freechildcare: 30 hours free childcare: eligibility.
